Northern and Southern California will
be graced by the presence of the legendary Queen of Rock & Roll,
Elizabeth Ramsey, along with her equally talented daughter, Jaya, the
countrys Queen of Soul. Come prepared to enjoy an unforgettable
night of royal fun, song, and laughter.
Starting at a very young age, Elizabeth Ramsey began performing
in venues like the Clover Theatre and other popular clubs in Manila. She
quickly blossomed into a commanding stage performer and has since been a
crowd favorite. At the ripe age of 76 years old, Elizabeth is still in her
prime and continues to do what she loves to do best singing and making
people laugh.
Maria Luisa, fondly called Jaya in
the showbiz world, followed in her mothers footsteps and began performing
at the age of 10. Together with her mom, she lived in the US and made a mark
in the music industry when her US single If You Leave Me Now
climbed the Billboard charts. She returned to her home land of the Philippines
with a string of hit songs such as Wala Na Bang Pag-Ibig, Dahil
Tanging Ikaw & Laging Naron Ka. Jaya has garnered
numerous awards for her music and soulful delivery.
Careerwise, Jaya is host to two of
the top rated television shows on GMA-7 in the Philippines, SOP (Sobrang
Okey, Pare!) and All Star K! SOP is a Sunday noontime concert show with fellow
artists like Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid & Janno Gibbs. All Star K!
is already in its 6th year and is a consistently top rated show every Sunday
with Allan K. Her much-awaited all covers album, COOL CHANGE,
was released November 2007 under her new label, GMA Records. Some of the
famous tracks in the album are JUST ONCE, COOL CHANGE (album title), JUST
BECAUSE, IS IT OVER, GIRLFRIEND, FOR THE FIRST TIME. Joining her on this
album are two of her closest friends in the business. She collaborates with
Janno Gibbs on WHY CANT IT BE and Regine Velasquez with the 80s
hit, POINTS OF VIEW. Aside from doing promotions for her new album, she is
also busy with her newest TV show on QTV-11 entitled ONE PROUD MAMA.
It is a talk show which features successful personalities with their equally
supportive mothers. It is scheduled to be aired this February 2008. A movie
with Regine & Ogie is also in the planning stage.
The Mother-Daughter Duo will feature
songs that will surely be enjoyed by people from ages 10 to 80 years old.
Jaya will be doing a medley of dance hits like I Will Survive, On The Radio
and other 70s 90s hits like Through the Fire, Just Once.
She will also be showcasing OPM songs from top Filipino performers like Sharon
Cuneta, Basil Valdez & Ogie Alcasid. Also singing with Jaya are her two
distinguished Backup vocalists Zebedee Zuniga and Cecilia R. Aurellado.
Elizabeth on the other hand will
definitely set the stage on fire with her funny monologues and heartwarming
renditions of OPM and oldies hits. Together they will be paying tribute to
their Visayan roots by doing Matud Nila and Usahay. It will be a memorable
evening for all to enjoy.
