 Rica Peralejo started
her showbiz career singing and dancing on the teen show Ang TV. After more
TV shows, including T.G.I.S. and H2K, Rica branched out into movies. Some
of her early films were T.G.I.S. the movie, Magandang Hatinggabi, and Ex-Con.
Rica soon decided she was ready for more mature
roles. In Balahibong Pusa, in which she co-starred with Joyce Jimenez, Rica
bared her breasts in a love scene with Jay Manalo. Rica had traded her sweet
teenybopper image for that of a sexy young bold star.
The new mature, daring Rica had a string of
box-office hits, including
Banyo Queen, Sa Huling Paghihintay (with real-life boyfriend
Bernard "BJ" Palanca of The Hunks), Dos Ekis, Hibla and Tatarin.
 But after
nearlythree years of sexy roles, Rica felt it was time for a change.
"I’m tired of doing bold roles," she declared in an interview with Ricky
Lo last fall. "I’m bored doing bold roles, ho-hum! That’s why I
was excited when OctoArts offered me Malikmata. Naiiba. Octo has been planning
a project for me and it’s only now na nag-jibe ang schedules namin."
True to her word, Rica has no nude scenes in Malikmata, which is sort of
a supernatural horror film.
Rica still has a busy TV schedule, appearing
on A.S.A.P. Mania, Kay Tagal Kitang Hinintay and OK Fine Whatever. She has
also been concentrating on her singing career. She recorded an album and
had a hit single, "Fallin'." She did a series of shows across the US in November
and December 2003, and has another tour planned for this spring.
