PRIMO:
The Philippines' Premier Power Vocal Trio
PRIMO is Jon Joven, Floyd Tena
and James Uy. Distinctly, Jon is into broadway, Floyd is into ballads,
and James is into pop-rock however creating one innovative brandof music
- (pop-classical) crossover. It's the first of its kind in the Philippines,
and they are a clique even before they started singing as a group, thus the
name PRIMO.
Jon Joven is an experienced
off/broadway artist who has Miss Saigon and West Side Story among others
in his record. Himala, and Noli Me Tangere are among his Philippine major
theatre billings. He won several gold medals in the pop, broadway and opera
categories at the 2006 World Championship of the Performing Arts.
Floyd Tena is a multi-media commercial
model and an alumnus of the Ateneo de Naga University Music Ministry. He
dabbles in the music/dance theatre scene with Andres Bonifacio as one of
the major roles he played. He also moonlights as a consultant for marketing
and brand management.
James Uy is a finalist of the
Pinoy Pop Superstar Las Vegas Edition which opened doors for his musical
career. While working as a computer analyst in Las Vegas, he fronts for various
concerts of Filipino artists where he was noted for his versatile and unique
musical prowess.
Together they create a perfect
blend which is attributed to almost three years of performing together around
the world.
In Europe, they performed at the
World Expo 2008 in Zaragoza, Spain; Rizal Week Celebration in Prague, Czech
Republic, 2008 where most of the audiences were non-Filipinos.
They are loved by Asians as they
were invited to perform at a very intimate and private wedding of a famous
Indonesian superstar in New Delhi, India; serenaded delegates from around
the world at an international business convention in Macau and performed
numerous mall shows in Hong Kong.
They were spotted by US producers
on YouTube and have been invited since then to perform in concert tours in
key cities in Texas, California, New Jersey, Kansas and other states with
mainly American audiences.
Even no less than the President
of the Republic of the Philippines has been enchanted by these gentlemen.
PRIMO is one of a select few at Malacanang's various state dinners for heads
of nations of Brunei, Switzerland, Papua New Guinea, Spain, and other
distinguished dignitaries.
PRIMO is among the select performers
in the Philippines' corporate events scene. They have graced launches of
various upscale and consumer products, significant luxurious brands, even
seasonal concert in major malls and New Year's Eve countdown concerts of
premiere hotels in the country.
Fellow Filipinos have beeninspired
by PRIMO when they sang in some of the country's noteworthy events on ground
and on TV. Some of them are: Annual People of the Year Awards ceremonies;
EDSA People Power Revolution Anniversary, NCCA - Ninoy Aquino Death Anniversary
Celebration 2008.
Notably, PRIMO is always a remarkable
guest on different variety and talk shows on Philippine TV and with their
debut album entitled PRIMO: Crossing Over, to be released this year, these
gentlemen are set to deliver one powerful, moving yet soothing musical
experience. With tracks crossing over different genres, the album is definitely
an artistry of beautiful music and harmony and a bold move in their
musicality.
