FREESTYLE, JAYA, BASIL, at CAROL "Trick
or Treat" Concert sa Los Angeles!
(Tingnan

BosPoker.Com Launch Tournament
@ Exclusive Mansion in Beverly Hills
When it comes to organizing
unique Hollywood events and celebrity parties, my good friend Rembrandt Flores
of Fusion PR (I mentioned here about his birthday party held at Cinespace
a few months ago), this young Fil-Am executive couldn't have done this
headlining-event any better. Creative as he is, he can pull more gold out
of a magnate.
At the recent BosPoker.Com launch party, where
we were shuttled to an exclusive Beverly Hills mansion, foods and cocktails,
free poker chips and playcards (of which my writer-colleague Josh Andowitt
got $3,000 worth) overflowed. The flavored mansion was spiffed up with dancing
showgirls, man with fire-grills, hot spas and more ala-Vegas aura.
From hotties Ben Affleck to Tobey Maguire,
more celebrities came, mingled
and anxious to take the gold-pot and
bet at the secluded Celebrity BosPoker arena poolroom. Real players Camryn
Manheim, brothers Danny and Chris Masterson, Lance Bass, Mena Suvari, Ron
Livingston, Nicole Richie, Matthew Perry, Erik Palladino, Bobby Cannavale,
Kelly Hu, Mimi Rogers, and tons of celebrities packed the hot-room and tested
their betting prowess. At the end of the party, we beat up Omarosa and the
Carlson twins (Kyle and Lance) and took away a "Larry Bird autograph-signed
basketball" collector's item from the celebrity auction arena. Log on to
BosPoker.com to know more about the
latest online poker game.
And what's the next event for this hard-working
lad? Rembrandt said, I'm also set to cover this book launching at Kitson
on Tuesday, October 26, a book launch party for "The Red Strings Book: The
Power of Protection" written by Yehuda Berg. Ashton Kutcher, Lucy Liu, Jennifer
Love Hewitt, The Black Eyed Peas, Kenny G, and more are among the celebrities
invited. If you're into Kabbalah -- go check out the book in any bookstore
- it's already out in the market!
Fourth Annual
Filipino-American Library Benefit Gala
It was my first time
to attend the Filipino-American Library Gala (shame on me! and I haven't
even gone to its office on Temple Ave.!) I should say it is one of the nicest,
if not the nicest Fil-Am event I have attended in many years! All were
dressed up and mingling (networking-networking-networking!) at the posh Biltmore
Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Miss Universe 1997 - Brook Lee, a very good
friend of Martin Nievera introduced him on stage (he had two encore songs).
The duet song of Martin Nievera and Lou Diamond Phillips was a treat (and
the latter even gyrated in a blue Hawaiian grass-skirt!). Becca Godinez (who
sold many CDs that night) and Jose Llana also performed (this broadway belter
really
has a nice voice!). Although, Role Model Awardee -
Rob Schneider was not able to make it - the Kayamanan Ng Lahi and other
performers made up for it. Other Awardees include Councilman Eric Garcetti
(Public Service Award), Howard Chua-Eoan (Time Magaine, Community Building
Journalism Award), SIPA (Community Service Award), and Wells Fargo (Corporate
Philanthropy Award). Congratulations to the deserving awardees, but mostly
to the organizers headed by Fritz Friedman (Chairman of the Board,
Filipino-American Heritage Institute) and Roselyn Ibanez (MPA-President of
the Filipino-American Library) for a job,very-well done!
My personal thanks to Candice Clark who assisted
us at the gala-party and Atty. Wilner (Wilner & Reilly) for the drinks!
Let's toast for the next one!
2004 AFI FEST presented by Audi (November
4-14, 2004)
I'll be busy with the AFI FEST starting November
4-14. The longest-running film festival in Los Angeles, heads up its 18th
annual event and I can't wait to watch and attend to the many films and
after-parties it offers. Yearly, the AFI FEST have structured a variety of
films from around the world, including Oscar-bound international movies
not-to-be-missed. Although, the Philippines has no entry this year, there
are a lot of noteworthy Asian films included --- and I have many favorites
to look forward to. At the launching party held at the White Lotus (one of
the trendiest and hottest Hollywood nite-spot these days), media people,
filmmakers, publicists and special guests gathered together to kick-off the
buzz. Check out www.afifest.com for
more details. E-.mail carnay25@yahoo.com for comments. (Browse more pics
