An Amper Productions
presentation at Merkin Concert Hall
On May 16, 2010 at 8:00
PM, the Merkin Concert Hall in New York City through Amper Productions, will
showcase two groups of young Filipino musicians from the Philippines who
are highly acclaimed for their superb sense of musicality that flows
spontaneously with such an appealing charm. The proceeds of this concert
will benefit the Mithing Pangarap (Cherished Dream) Educational
Foundation, Inc. (MPEFI) which provides adequate education, job training
and livelihood programs to the children of indigent families of Smokey Mountain
in Tondo, Manila. The Philippine Montessori Center undertakes ninety percent
of the funding to run this outreach program it has since established and
adopted as its own.
The Philippine Montessori
Center Instrumental Ensemble (PMCIE) is a musical group composed of pre-
school students from the Philippine Montessori Center in Manila. The ensemble
performs serious classical as well as contemporary music on percussion
instruments such as the marimba, xylophone, metallophone and concert bells.
The young artists also form into an angklung ensemble, playing famous Philippine
immortal love songs and classics. Their program will include Rossinis
Overture to The Barber of Seville, Brahms Hungarian Dance No. 5,
Khachaturians Saber Dance and Philippine love songs among others.
The Temple Hill International
School Instrumental Ensemble (THISME), is the elementary level counterpart
of PMCIE. The group has performed in both local and international venues.
The most notable, was the groups participation in the 2004 VSA (Vision,
Strength and Artistic Expression) Arts Festival in Washington, D.C., qualifying
over 700 entries all over the world. THISMEs repertoire will include
Vivaldis Concerto in D, Lecuonas Malaguena, Griegs
