'The Songwriter and the Songwrecker' Heats Up New York

If laughter is the best medicine, then get ready for a big dose.

Songwriter Ogie Alcasid and Comedienne Ai Ai de las Alas are all set to bring you an evening of love and laughter in their concert "Love 2 Laugh: the Songwriter and the Songwrecker" on June 15, 2007, 8:00 p.m. at the Town Hall 123 W. 43rd St., New York, New York. Originally performed to full houses at the Music Museum and Aliw Theatre in the Philippines, the show features non-stop entertainment as only two masters of comedy can provide.

Ogie Alcasid is best known as a man who can make you both swoon and laugh. An acclaimed composer and singer in his own right, Ogie boasts of a string of multiplatinum hits that have become veritable anthems of those who are in love or want to be in love. On the other hand, this romantic is also a clown. Ogie is one of the Philippines' most popular comedians. His unique brand of comedy has made him one of the most sought after funnymen of television and screen - his resume is legendary, from hit comedy shows such as Bubble Gang to unforgettable comedy films where he portrays the probinsyano (country hick)/fantasy hero persona to a T.

Comedy queen Ai Ai de las Alas is the comedienne to beat in the Philippines. Often imitated but never quite replicated, Ai Ai is a veteran of stand up and screen. Her name is practically synonymous with comedy and satire. If a comedy club or theatre resounds with peals of laughter that defy the decibel scale, you can almost be sure Ai Ai is at the reins. Her typical on-screen persona as the struggling mother makes the trials and tribulations of parenthood seem both touching and humorous.

"Love 2 Laugh" is a journey through the aspects of love and being in love gone haywire; with these two crazy cupids as your tour guides, we promise you one funny rollercoaster ride.

This concert is presented by Castellvi Productions in cooperation with Remax Family. Sponsors include: Perlas ng Silangan, Michael Gurfinkel Law Office, Forex, Carousel Pinoy Entertainment, Wuzz Up Asian Cuisine, Newstar Philippines, Fab Five, New Long Cheng Supermarket, Ventra Tours, Phil-Am Merchandising, Belo Medical Group and Pinoy Chronicle

LOVE TO LAUGH: THE REPEAT - Manila Bulletin, March 6, 2007

If you didn’t make it to the riotous concert comedy farce "Love to Laugh," you are still lucky because there will be a return engagement on March 10 (Saturday), 8 p.m. at the Aliw Theatre. The show will feature once again the funniest comedians in our universe— Multi-platinum songwriter and singer Ogie Alcasid and Concert Comedy Queen AiAi de las Alas. The show had an SRO crowd for two consecutive nights last Valentine’s and people are talking for weeks after with rave reviews. Starmedia was overwhelmed with the response of the crowd who have enjoyed the show immensely— "We ran out of tickets to sell, so we decided to do another show. We got numerous calls for a repeat from celebrities, politicians, and concert-goers because they have heard from their friends of how hilarious the show was." Ogie Alcasid adds "We would like to thank all the people who watched the show. You can now ask your friends who missed it." Ai Ai also quips "To those who have watched the show, Im sure you would love to watch it again. So see you there and have fun with us!" The premise of the show is that AiAi will attempt to be coy and demure because she has become tired of being a wanton woman of the world. She dreams to become cute and dandy. She strives to be a wholesome woman. She doesn’t want to be "over the top," and tries to as simple as a Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty all rolled into one. She challenges the audience that she will be nice and pretty until the end of the show. The audience laughs back, not believing her. Ogie comes in with his own brand of humor and does his very own version of a classic OPM medley which pays tribute to the Greatest Hitmakers Rico Puno, Haji Alejandro, Nonoy Zuniga, Rey Valera, and Marco Sison. You want to hurt your face laughing—this is your show. Beware, be very much aware that this show is not one for the weak hearted. Expect for great laughs and great entertainment. Catch it before its last run here in Manila before they go on tour to Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg in Canada and Chicago, Washington, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco in the U.S.
