Gretheline R. Bolandrina, BSN, RN, CRRN
Recipient of 2005 National Prism Award for Women of Style and Achievements

She’s a bundle of energy, always volunteering gladly for a long list of community-based and not-for-profit organizations and obviously loving and enjoying every minute of it. She has worked with Locks of Love, HOPE Foundation International (Health Organization for the Poor Enterprise), Iskwelahang Pilipino, the Lowell Folk Festival, the National Federation of Filipino American Associations, MPC Foundation (Mrs. Philippines Centennial), the Philippine Nurses Association of New England, where she had served as Vice President and member, Bagong Kulturang Pinoy, Inc. and the Girl Scouts of the USA, for which she received Achievement Award, Montachusetts Girl Scout Council.

Gretheline, as she is known to everyone, has been a recipient of numerous awards, among them, Service Excellence Award for five years from St. John of God Hospital in 1994; Service Excellence Award, 10 years from Girl Scouts USA in 1997; 1998 Employee of the Month, a recognition that was given for the first time to a department head by SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation for Milford; Member of the Year, Philippine Nurses Association of New England, 2001 and Outstanding Service from the National Federation of Filipino American Associations First Biennial Eastern Region Conference.

But the crowning glory of her achievements must have come from the Nursing Spectrum where she had been a finalist for the 2005 Nursing Excellence Award for Community Service. Gretheline was also named in the (Marqui’s) Who’s Who in American Women (2000 Millennium Edition).

A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas College of Nursing in 1987, Gretheline came to Boston in March 1989 to work at St. John of God Hospital, where she stayed till 1994. She was accepted at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation for Milford in 1994, where she has continued working as Nursing Supervisor, Director of Quality Improvement, Nurse Manager and Charge Nurse. In April 2005 Gretheline accepted a position at the Massachusetts Bay Community College as Clinical Instructor.

Being active in community organizations, Gretheline took Creative Journalism at Harvard University in 2001. It was knowledge she was able to put to good use as she started to write press releases for community-based organizations. She is also a columnist for New York-based publication, “Planet Philippines.”

Gretheline is married to Joseph Bolandrina, with whom she had four children: Jessica Dawn, Gino Ray, Lilly Amber and Max Joseph.
