Kapuso Fever Heats
Up Las Vegas!
Updated Nov. 30, 2007
LAS VEGAS, Nevada - In their first
live appearance together in the U.S. as on-screen partners in the phenomenal
hit telenovela "Marimar," lead stars Dingdong Dantes and overnight
sensation Marian Rivera headline "Kapuso Fever," an
Entertainment Festival and Christmas Fair on Sunday, Dec. 2,
2007, featuring top-notch talent from GMA7, the Philippines' No.
1-rated television network.
Dingdong Dantes - director, host, actor,
model - and the stunningly beautiful Marian Rivera are the lead couple
on "Marimar," the primetime weeknight telenovela that, after
premiering in August, rocketed to a 49.5 percent Mega Manila rating on November
16th, its highest ever. Having already surpassed the original Mexican version
in the ratings department, this updated version is very well poised to join
the elite circle of shows that have reached the 50% mark.
The "Kapuso Fever" production
team is in the thick of preparations for the much-anticipated event with
attendees expected to come from as far as the East Coast and the Pacific
Northwest. Creative Concepts International, line producer of the event has
been inundated with calls from enthusiastic "Marimar" fans
gushing with absolute devotion for the show.
"The response and feedback we're getting from
fans of the teleserye 'Marimar' is simply incredible and quite
overwhelming," said "Kapuso Fever" director Jet Montelibano.
"They are totally glued and hooked to the series," Montelibano added. "Some
have even indicated their intention of lodging an appeal to GMA Network to
extend the telenovela past the planned February conclusion."
Interestingly, the already high TV viewership
is complemented by an astronomical number of online viewers of unauthorized
episodic postings with each episode logging over a quarter-of-a-million hits
and growing.
"Judging from the calls we've been receiving,
there will be vanloads of families trekking to Las Vegas to attend this
one-of-a-kind event," Montelibano said. We couldn't think of a more appropriate
title than "Kapuso Fever" with the Las Vegas desert heating
up in fever-pitch fashion.
A bevy of beautiful vocalists including
singer-actress Ciara Sotto, former co-host of the long-running daily
show "Eat Bulaga," will make appearances at "Kapuso Fever."
She will also be taking a star turn on the much-anticipated Las Vegas revue,
"Fever The Musical" at the soon-to-open Melanja Fine Dining and Theater.
"Fever The Musical" will feature tunes from Karlyn Bay, sister of
Vegas veteran entertainer Lani Misalucha, Universal Artist label songbird
Rizza Navales, the gold medal Vocal Soloist at the U.S.-based 8th
World Championship of the Performing Arts, also with Autumn Belanger,
Harmony Moniz and Emily Istre.
The Philippines' Prince of R&B,
California-born JayR, features his fantastic dance steps and melodious
voice in "Kapuso Fever" on Sunday, Dec. 2. He's a regular
on "SOP," GMA7's Sunday musical variety program and as the tribal
leader on the network's "Encantadia" (2006). JayR's played the evil
Haring Bagulbol in the movie "Exodus" (2005), and the romantic
lead in "Love to Love" (Season 4 & 7). Ladies, JayR doesn't
just tickle your fancy; he tickled your funny bone in the 2005 comedies
"Hari ng Sablay," and opposite Kris Aquino in "So Happy Together."
"Kapuso Fever" host Paco
Arespacochaga, drummer of the 80's band Introvoys, will be joined
on stage by co-host and L.A. native, comedian-singer Joseph Gelito,
and San Francisco-based co-host Jae Buensuceso, who bested contenders
from the U.S., Canada and the Middle East in the World Challengers
round of the 2007 Pinoy Pop Superstar competition last June 2007 giving
her a chance to vie for the Grand Showdown championship.
The Introvoys' classic hits, "Di
Na Ko Aasa Pa," "Binibini," "Are You Happy" and "Will
I Survive," along with others, garnered four platinum honors and the
title "No.1 Band in the Land!" Members include JJ Buencamino (keyboards),
Jonathan Buencamino (vocals), Steve Guadiz (guitar) and Chot Ulep (bass).
Introvoys will showcase their most recent album project, "New
Beginnings."
South Border lead singer Duncan
Ramos and pop and R&B band members Butch Victoriano, Paul
Benitez and Tata Balane and their tune, "Sweet," became
the first Pilipino R&B tune to be played on Southern California's KDAY-FM
radio (93.5). South Border has performed in SoCal clubs including
BB King's Blues Club at Universal City Walk. Their hit, "Rainbow,"
promoted Sharon Cuneta's 2003 Metro Manila Filmfest entry, "Crying
Ladies." And "Ikaw Nga" was the theme for GMA7 hit Richard
Gutierrez TV show, "Mulawin."
Vegas' homegrown hip-hop Meccamee
Dancers, and the Filipiniana Dance Troupe of Las Vegas, not only
a dance heritage ensemble but a notable charitable organization advocating
awareness and recognition of the Philippine performing arts and preserving
the legacy of Pilipino culture and style, will wow "Kapuso"
audience-goers with their polish, poise and charm.
The entertainment extravaganza is set for
Sunday Dec. 2 starting at noon until 7 p.m. at the Sport
Center of Las Vegas at 121 E. Sunset Road, Las Vegas NV 89119. The Sport
